In 1987, Beverly and I took a trip to Cancun, Yucatan, Mexico. Beverly was a veteran Mexico traveler. It was my first trip to mainland Mexico and I loved it. Herewith the few sketches I managed to do there. Wish I had done more. I hope you enjoy these!
1. We took a ferry from Puerto Juarez to Isla Mujeres and stayed at El Presidente hotel, which was located on a spit of sand east of the north beach. The next year, 1988, the hotel was totally destroyed by Hurricane Gilbert. It has never been restored because of the frequency of hurricanes on that coast.
2. The swimming pool at El Presidente, where a pair of frigate birds fighting over a fish dropped their prey into the pool next to Beverly with a loud "Splat!". Some text from my journal is included:
3. A very hasty sketch I did from memory of one of the huts we saw on a bus trip to Chichen-Itza. That simple bus ride (and other travels) opened my eyes to how dramatically different from our lives in the United States much of the world. To hear about that is one thing, to see it, another.

Thanks and have a great week!
